Orkney Brewery was established in 1988 with commendable ecological awareness that allows the breweries waste water to be filtered through two neighboring lochs that support fish and waterfowl. The brewery was thouroughly modernized in 1994. In 2008, the brewery expanded, adding a visitor centre and shop. Its output was also increased (Great Beers, 2008).
