Great Western
Great Western
Founded in 1927 under the name of Hub City Brewing, Great Western has certainly survived some major ups and downs. The brewery was bought by Carlaing O'Keefe in 1956 and continued brewing under their label until 1989 when Molson stepped in and bought out O'Keefe; consequently deciding to shut down the Saskatoon brewery. However a few employees pooled their resources together and bought the brewery from Molson, and thus, Great Western Brewing was created. Hailed in Saskatchewan and a proud supporter of Junior football programs, Great Western continues to be a leader in their community while producing some great beers (www.gwbc.ca)..
According to WBC:
Great Western has Saskatchewan written all over it. They even created a light beer dedicated to the Saskatchewan Pilsner lovers.
Did you know?:
Their motto is "employee founded and completely independent" (www.gwbc.ca).
